Mats Sundin Biography

The full name of Mats Sundin is Mats Johan Sundin. The real pronunciation of the name is Mats Sendin. Presently, Sundin is a retired professional ice hockey player from Sweden. He was born on 13th February in the year 1971. His professional ice hockey career in National Hockey League started with the Quebec Nordiques team. He played for this particular hockey team for the next four seasons.

After that in the year 1994, he came to Toronto Maple Leafs. In this particular he played more than half of his ice hockey career. He captained this team for 11 seasons consecutively. Sundin is regarded as one of the longest captain who had a non0North American origin in the history of National Hockey League. Mats Sudin then came to Vancouver Canucks after the year 2007. He played for this team for only one season. The season of 2008-09 was the last season for Mats Sundin.

After this, Sundin announced the official news of retirement from the sport of ice hockey on 30th September in the year 2009. Moreover, he was successful in playing 13 seasons of 18 National Hockey League seasons. He played these seasons particularly for the Toronto Maple Leafs team. He had to appear in 10 seasons of National Hockey League playoffs. Sundin had played around seventy games on every season and has got an average of seventy points in each season of his ice hockey career. This has helped the Toronto Maple Leafs to win many matches where this particular player has most of the time of his ice hockey career. Sundin also has got a record of first Swedish to score five hundred goals. He also holds the record of maximum goal and point scorer for the particular team of Toronto Maple Leafs.

Mats Sundin was well known for fulfilling the national duties in the ice hockey team of Sweden. He has performed very well for his national team and was successful in winning three golf medals at the World Championships.  In the year 2006, at the Winter Olympics that took place in Turin, he also brought a gold medal for his country. He has also performed in many other championships and tournaments for the Swedish team and was quite successful in most of the cases. He was a very good player, who could score goals at any point of the game and just change the motion of the game in either ways.
